TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
SERVICES
"This is a marvelous program."
Darien, CT
Our initial contact with a school
district often comes through our
public workshops. A frequent
outgrowth of the workshop experience is a longer term relationship
with a district in the form of consulting services, advanced courses
(which may include graduate credit), or specialty institutes.
Because we recognize that no two
school districts have identical needs, we create an
implementation plan customized to each school or district. We
work collaboratively to ensure a successful school, or
district-wide, implementation of the Collins Writing ProgramSM
and provide guidance in the form of
Three Steps to a Successful Program
Implementation. This
guide will provide you with a straight-forward approach to
assessing your staffs' skills level, establishing your goals,
and determining the training activities you wish to include. To

PUBLIC WORKSHOPS
VIEW SPRING 2012 SCHEDULE
Each year we conduct scores of half-
or full-day writing workshops for teachers, supervisors and
administrators. Our
public workshops are held throughout the United States in
convenient locations, such as a hotel, and are open to educators
from the surrounding school districts.
CONSULTING SERVICES
Consulting
engagements typically cover one or more school years
and provide in-depth, ongoing support for teachers in the form
of intensive training and in-class modeling of techniques and
best teaching practices.
ADVANCED COURSES
Our
advanced
writing courses are in-depth sessions that last from
three to seven days and can be customized to meet specific needs.
Advanced courses are typically offered in the summer and are a key
focus of a district's professional development program. Courses
include a graduate credit option, and participating teachers may
come from the sponsoring district or surrounding area districts.
COLLINS INSTITUTES
Collins Institutes are
available year round and provide an
attractive alternative to week long summer courses. All
institutes are available as one or two day workshops,
covering a wide range of topics, grade levels and subjects. Topics
were chosen to have the most impact on student achievement.
